A Thai-based airline has received its official air operator's certificate and is set offer flights before the end of January.

Crystal Thai's vice-president explained that the official certificate has been provided by Thailand's department of civil aviation and that the first flight to Bangkok will take place on January 30th.

Pittipol Vannarot said that says Crystal Thai will use an Airbus A320 to provide the service from Bangkok to Seoul Incheon, reports Aviation Week.

The airline has also leased an Airbus A330 to be used in March when it begins its Bangkok to Dubai flights. Other future services include flights to Phuket, Clark, Philippines, Cochin, India and Mumbai.

Mr Pittipol added that the carrier is set to appeal to tourists and will be focusing on developing links with Korea in the short-term to boost passenger numbers.

"Many Thai people want to go to Korea, and many Koreans travel to Thailand," he added.

According to the airline's website, Crystal Thai is set to add two Boeing 747s to its flights in April.
